The Archetype of women portray in movies throught the decades Movie Review
The Archetype of ladies depict in films throught the decades - Movie Review Example The adjustments in the lady in trouble original can be effortlessly followed through the different forms of the Cinderella story as introduced by what might become Paramount Pictures yet in 1914 was the Famous Players Film Company, that delivered by Walt Disney in 1950 and the more present day rendition of ââ¬Å"Ever Afterâ⬠featuring Drew Barrymore. By looking into key components of every story, an image starts to develop of the contrasting belief systems of each timespan just as contrasts with respect to target group. In the soonest film, Cinderella apparently is living with her stepmother and two more seasoned advance sisters with no obvious notice of the missing normal guardians. Following the customary story, Cinderella goes through her days tidying up after her vain and ruined sisters and step-mother and her nights sitting in with the ashes to keep warm. She gains the pixie godmotherââ¬â¢s help with her benevolence to an old, injured lady who appears at her entryway di sregarding the unfeeling treatment the lady gets from the progression mother and step-sisters. A distracting worry here is the manner by which this desire for young ladies to be thoughtful to the down and out contrasts and Snow Whiteââ¬â¢s treatment (another Damsel in Distress original figure) wherein the young lady is harmed for her torments. Cinderella, however, wins an opportunity to meet the sovereign while she is out social occasion wood for the fire and the two begin to look all starry eyed at right away. The story adheres quite near the storyline that would be made well known by Walt Disney 40 years after the fact with the special case that Cinderella should likewise finish undertakings given her by the back up parent before she can be dressed for the ball. These are simple errands, including gathering the pumpkin, the mice and the rodents to serve individually as mentor, ponies and workers, yet they are something Cinderella really needs to proceed to achieve before she ca n get the godmotherââ¬â¢s blessing. With regards to the occasions, it was not bizarre for individuals to discover creatures, for example, mice and rodents living in nearness to their homes, and it isn't astounding that inside the house is the place Cinderella finds and catches the mice and the rodents she will require. Cinderella is a genuine working young lady, as well, not nauseous about managing these creatures and acquainted with the hard work of a housemaid during a time without programmed machines accessible to make the work simpler. This is an a lot harder story than that told by Walt Disney in 1950. Here the progression sisters have become as terrible in appearance as they are in soul. They are both clearly mean and resentful even to one another. Cinderellaââ¬â¢s job here is the equivalent, to battle as housemaid under these sisters and a considerably additionally requesting step-mother, yet the house is a lot more amazing and Cinderellaââ¬â¢s facilities are increas ingly agreeable albeit still poor. While she is as yet expected to do the entirety of the work, her energized garments donââ¬â¢t look about as poor as that of her previous real life partner and the creatures that live in her home are companions as opposed to vermin. This is clarified as the winged animals, pooch, pony and mice all exist evidently to serve her wants since they are all, somewhat, enamored with her too. With regards to the disposition of the occasions in which new innovations were being made that made womenââ¬â¢s housework significantly less of a task, Cinderella is once in a while observed

How Literature Reflects Communities Essay
Creators have truly utilized different scholarly attempts to mirror the social orders in which their live. To this end, the activities of characters in scholarly works reflect existing social ideas while the encompassing societyââ¬â¢s conduct reflects on explicit charactersââ¬â¢ practices. Fundamentally, social orders and networks are ordinarily delineated as commonly influencing one another. Prominent instances of artistic works in which such proportional collaboration is exhibited are the three short stories in particular: William Faulknerââ¬â¢s A Rose for Emily; Flannery Oââ¬â¢Connorââ¬â¢s Good Country People; and Toni Cade Bambaraââ¬â¢s The Lesson. To represent, through his A Rose for Emily story, Faulkner depicts Emily Grierson as being contrarily influenced by her encompassing society. Thus, Emilyââ¬â¢s activities contrarily effect of her countrymen. In like manner, through the Good Country People story, Oââ¬â¢Connor portrays the character named Joy Hopewell as adversely affecting on the individuals around her. Sequentially, the general public wherein Hopewell lives exhibits a demeanor that contrarily influences her. In a comparative adaptation, Toni Cade Bambaraââ¬â¢s The Lesson story outlines the character called Miss Moore being contrarily influenced by her encompassing society. Accordingly, Miss Moore shows practices and perspectives that adversely sway on her comrades. With everything taken into account, Oââ¬â¢Connor â⬠through Good Country People â⬠Faulkner â⬠through A Rose for Emily â⬠just as Bambara â⬠through The Lesson short stories â⬠depict their heroes as equally influencing and being influenced by their social orders in a contrary manner. For instance, in Bambaraââ¬â¢s The Lesson story, Miss Mooreââ¬â¢s deigning sentiment towards her comrades â⬠particularly the kids with which she invests a large portion of her energy â⬠pulls in disproval from the encompassing network. Therefore, both the youngsters just as the grown-ups disregard Miss Moore. For example, Bambara takes note of that ââ¬Ëthe adults (talk) â⬠¦.. when â⬠¦. despite her good faith like a dog,ââ¬â¢ in this manner indicating utter disregard for Miss Moore (). Mooreââ¬â¢s irritatingly disparaging nature is apparent when she ââ¬Ëlooks atââ¬â¢ her understudies ââ¬Ë like she readin tea leavesââ¬â¢ (). The creator along these lines presents an image of an individual and the encompassing society commonly influencing each other in a negative way. Similarly, through the A Rose for Emily story, Faulkner shows that Emilyââ¬â¢s unbecoming conduct welcomes discourteous reactions from her comrades. For example, Emily shows rudeness when she exhibits obstinacy towards her societyââ¬â¢s requests that she makes good on charges. She even solidly expels the societyââ¬â¢s delegates from her home. Unexpectedly calling Tobe â⬠her steward â⬠Emily teaches him to ââ¬ËShow these men of their word outââ¬â¢ (). In response, the general public exhibits lack of concern towards her as is obvious from the narratorââ¬â¢s affirmations that the general public doesn't know about Emilyââ¬â¢s ailment. To this end, the storyteller comments ââ¬ËWe didn't realize she was sickââ¬â¢ (). So also, through his Good Country People story, Oââ¬â¢Connor portrays Joy Hopewell as a character who exhibits haughtiness towards her countrymen â⬠quite Mrs. Freeman and Hopewell ââ¬Ës mother â⬠the outcome being that she turns out to be agonizingly estranged from her general public. For instance, since she is taught , Hopewell ridicules all individuals around her as is apparent from her comment that her mom is ââ¬Ëbloated, inconsiderate, and squint-eyedââ¬â¢ (). In response, society estranges Hopewell , hence making her to beseech her mom to ethically acknowledge her. A profoundly sorry Hopewell shouts out to the mother saying ââ¬Ëlike I amââ¬â¢ take me (). Taking everything into account, the issue of people contrarily responding with their encompassing networks is obviously clear through the 3 stories, Good Country People, The Lesson, just as A Rose for Emily. Great Country Peopleââ¬â¢s Hopewell endures isolation because of her presumptuous demeanor towards her comrades. Moreover, A Rose for Emilyââ¬â¢s Emily endures isolation because of her stooping perspective on her general public. Finally, The Lessonââ¬â¢s Miss Mooreââ¬â¢s is disregarded by society inferable from her disposition of survey her countrymen as being unknowledgeable.

CP17 Podcast with Neil Patel from Kissmetrics, Quicksprout, NeilPatel.com more Talking about Building Online Businesses INTRODUCTIONMartin: Hi! Today we have a very big domain expert in the house. Neil Patel is an expert on everything â" on building online businesses and SEO. Hi, Neil! Thank you so much for joining this podcast.Neil: Thanks for having me.Martin: Great. For the readers who donât know you yet, can you briefly describe your entrepreneur journey?Neil: Yes. Iâm a serial entrepreneur. I started off creating businesses for marketers and business owners, right? Itâs all revolving around marketing. And in essence, what my goal was is to just help companies grow whether thatâs traffic, online sales, thatâs what my core focus is.Martin: Great. And at what point in time did you think about starting your own business?Neil: I started my own business when I was 16.Martin: Wow.Neil: And when I was 16, it was a job board, it didnât work out well but I then created a marketing agency that helped people generate more traffic. And the reason I started out young is: I wanted to do something a nd I was too young, a good paying job, right? In the U.S, most jobs, you donât get them until youâre done with college.Martin: Thatâs true. Okay, and can go give us some kind of insights, what type of companies did you start? I mean, I know that, but maybe for introducing that to the readers.Neil: Iâve done start-ups, to bigger companies now like Airbnb when they were a start-up, all the way to corporations like the Walmart, the General Motors, ViaCom, Google, Facebook, eBay, Amazon â" I worked with them all.Martin: Cool, great. I mean, letâs dig deeper into how to build an online business because I know you have worked on Kissmetrics, you have started NeilPatel.com, Quicksprout and now also doing some Nutrition Secrets. What type of tips can you give us in terms of balancing traffic growth and monetization? So, at what point in time should I focus on what?Neil: It depends on your niche. But if youâre in the B2B niche, anytime youâre, letâs say, under a hundred thou sand like if youâre at that ten-twenty thousand visitors a month, youâre starting to have enough people where you can look at monetization. If youâre in the consumer niche, if you have under fifty or a hundred thousand visitors, itâs not that many, you can still monetize but typically you want to start shooting for about fifty thousand.Martin: Okay, cool. And typically when I look at those, kind of, online businesses, they are mainly having three paths:so one thing is traffic generation, then there is this kind of email collection, lead magnets andthe last thing is trying to monetize and sell those people something. What type of best practices have you learned in terms of really collecting much more emails from the people visiting your website?Neil: Yes, one of the best practice Iâve learned when it comes to collecting emails is to give them more information than the related page theyâre on. So if theyâre reading a blog post on getting more search traffic from Google, yo u offer this as PDF this report, itâs called the content upgrade. If you put it in email; theyâll get ten more ways to generate more traffic from Google. Itâs very relevant and much more likely to collect a lot of emails.Martin: And how do you select those kind of upgrade content? So, imagine youâre writing something on, I donât know, the best back linking tools or so. How do you come up with relevant content upgrade?Neil: So whatever your blog post is on, just do more of it. So if it is like a big list, itâs like a hundred and one ways, your upgrade can be a checklist. If your blog post is how to do something, your content upgrade could be âX more ways to do that same thingâ, right? Or it could be like âX case studies of companies who implement it successfullyâ. So, it just has to be very relevant. Assuming they read the content upgrade, it should help them do the job better.Martin: Cool. Neil, so when you start out some new online business, for example, like yo u did with the Nutrition Secrets, how do you find an idea that is worth going after? What type of criteria are you using?Neil: I look up market cap, so I use Google Trends to type in industry keywords and it helps me to see how big an industry is. The bigger the industry, the more likely I am to go after.Martin: And how do you define the competitiveness?Neil: I donât really look at competitiveness; I just look at how big it is.Martin: Wow, cool.Neil: So, when it comes to competitiveness, I just look at how many bloggers are there. So for example, an online marketing world, there are more people than in the nutrition space, more competitive because Iâm competing with marketers. Yet, thereâs less traffic in the marketing space.Martin: Okay, cool.Neil: So each visitor is worth more money, right?Martin: Yes, okay, great!SEO TIPS FROM NEIL PATELMartin: Letâs talk a little bit about SEO because I know youâre a big expert in this domain as well. So, how do I get backlinks? So ima gine Iâve started a blog and Iâm writing some kind of content and now, the question is: Everybody tells me I should do some type of blogger outreach in order to track some back links. Actually, can you walk me through step by step, how should I do that?Neil: Yes, if youâre trying to track backlinks, the one thing I would do is use the tool like Ahrefs.com, put in URLs and everyone who links to that competitors or put into my competitor URLs, I see everyone who links them and then Iâll just start shooting up emails. Iâll be like:âHey Martin, I notice youâre linked to XYZ website and itâs an awesome resource but have you seen this resource? It includes 20 more ways to blow your traffic or whatever it may be And doing that kind of stuff really helps generate more backlinks because youâre providing more value and not just asking for a link. Youâre trying to tell them: âHey, you know, my version of it is better off.âMartin: And what type of conversion rates can I expect? Say, imagine, Iâm emailing 100 people who are linking to some kind of competitor website. What type of conversion rate can I expect in having a backlink?Neil: If youâre getting around 5%, youâre doing good.Martin: And how do you scale this kind of thing because I imagine this to be very time consuming?Neil: Yes, thereâs no real good way to scale it.Martin: Good, awesome. If youâre looking at onsite SEO, what type of techniques can you identify for improving the user signals on your blog posts?Neil: Make sure youâre cross linking; you have good descriptive title text, and that your click-through rate is good. With the onpage SEO it just comes to using the best practices and making sure the click-through rates are good.Martin: By click-through rate, you mean from the Google search result to my page?Neil: Well, if you go to Google search console, you can see your click-through rate from everyone searching for a keyword.Martin: Yes.Neil: But in essence, what you want to end up doing is, like you mentioned, if people searching on Google and how many of them went through? Google search console shows you how many impressions you got per keyword and your click-through rate and you can compare to your others ones to see if itâs low or high.Martin: And what type of tips can you provide our readers for improving these click-through rates? So that, for example, Iâm looking for, I donât know, business plan or something like this and they are some one million search results. And Iâm just looking at the first ten, what can I do in order to get from position 10 to position 6 for example just based on improving the text, meta text, or something like that?Neil: Yes, first off, when you change your click-through, or your title, and you improve your click-through, it does not improve your ranking right away. It can take months before you see the results from it. But thereâs a few things:One, donât just put keywords in there. Ideally, you want to ha ve keywords people are searching for but you donât want to stuck with more and more keywords. You want your title very readable so that way, people are like: âOh, cool, let me read this and then click-through on it, it seems really appealingâ.The next thing is about curiosity. The more curious your title is, the more clicks youâll get.The third thing is informational like how-to guides, lists. Think like magazine headlines, they do very well. Those are the type of titles that get a lot of clicks.Martin: Okay, cool. And how do I define if you look at the content, what specific articles do you want to write about? For example, if youâre looking at NeilPatel.com, so how do you find your content roadmap?Neil: You use a tool called Buzzsumo. You put your keywords in there related to your space and it will give you ideas or topics that done well in the past and you want to write similar articles.Martin: But still, you want to optimize those articles somehow. And what are you doi ng in this regard?Neil: Optimizing for click-through, or are you talking about optimizing the articles?Martin: The article itself.Neil: Well, for the article itself, itâs pretty simple. One, I write in a conversational tone, I use the words âyou and Iâ often as if itâs a conversation which people want to read it, comment, etc. Two, I make the paragraph short like five-six line paragraphs max that way it makes it more readable.I use some subheadings. Subheadings describe what the section is about and makes it more skimmable and then the subheadings, you can also add keywords.I put a question at the end of each blog post; it helps in encouraging more comments. Those are the main things that I do when Iâm writing articles.Martin: Okay, cool. So when Iâm looking at lots of websites, some of them have a high bounce rate, some of them have a low one. What is your perspective on having a high bounce rate and what type of things can I do and should I even do then to lower the bounc e rate?Neil: Bounce rate is hard to control. You ideally want to control it but in most cases I wouldnât worry about bounce rate, I would just focus on providing the best user experience. And if you provide the best user experience overtime you will notice that your bounce rate decreases.Martin: Okay, cool.ADVICE TO ENTREPRENEURS FROM NEIL PATELMartin: What type of advice would you give your best friend or so who comes up with an idea of doing something chocolate-related, for example? Letâs assume heâs a big chocolate fan and he wants to start some kind of online business around that. What type of step by step guide would you tell him so he can go on and start his chocolate business?Neil: So one, is to focus on the product make sure you have better chocolate than everyone else. Two, Iâll go into like Instagram and Facebook, find all the cooking, mom, family-oriented pages, and Iâll pay them to post about the chocolate or give them free chocolate in exchange for posting.Tha ts it. I would not do anymore, that would create enough buzz.Martin: Okay, and how would you balance? For example, what Iâm hearing from Backlinko or so, they say write less blog posts but really make them super deep, like using the skyscraper technique and looking for lots of backlinks to one of those posts and focus on that. So donât write millions of blog posts but focus on a little number of blog posts and make them right. What is your perspective on that?Neil: It is a good approach. The problem is that the most people canât do what heâs doing, they cannot do the quality, they donât know how to do that. And for that reason I would say Go for quantity.Martin: And what do you think keeps people from starting their own blog?Neil: The time, the effort, itâs a lot of work.Martin: Can you give some kind of insights on Nutrition Secrets? How much time did you spend in the beginning on starting this kind of blog, writing content, acquiring backlinks and so on?Neil: Yes, the guy who runs it (because Iâm not a nutritionist) he was spending pretty much like 5-6 hours a day doing this stuff, itâs a lot of work. Writing content, building links, that is all that he was doing for many months.Martin: Okay, and when Im looking at some kind of smaller blogs who were really well monetized, something like SmartPassiveIncome or so, what type of advice can you give to people who are running a blog with like you said fifty thousand to one hundred thousand visitors or so who want to increase their revenue per mille significantly? So, like, from 2-3$ RPM to maybe 20-30$?Neil: Create a sales funnel.Martin: Okay, how do they do that?Neil: Thereâs no specific way but to map out the user buying flows, figure out what the journey someone would take before they buy and try to walk them through that journey. And make sure you have different options for when they donât do this, where else do I send them, right?Martin: How does this apply to NeilPatel.com? The sales fun nel?Neil: Well, the sales funnel, when someone opts in with their email, we send them through a lot of different journeys to get them to buy products and services from us. And if they donât buy, thatâs okay, we educate them more, we build more relationships before we pitch them again.Martin: And what types of email CRM solution are you using and why?Neil: We use Infusionsoft and Maropost. Infusionsoft is good for the sales funnel and mapping it out and Maropost has higher deliverability.Martin: Okay, have you heard of ConvertKit? And what are your thoughts on that?Neil: Iâve heard of it, I havenât used it.Martin: Okay, cool. So, any more tips that you can provide whoâs really thinking about starting his next blog and online business?Neil: Yes, if youâre trying to start your next blog or online business, you have to be consistent. Youâre not going to get results right away but if you hit it hard for 6-7 months straight, youâll do pretty well.Martin: Okay, cool. Thank you so much for your time, Neil.Neil: Alright, take care.THANKS FOR LISTENING! Thank you so much for your time, Neil.Neil: Alright, take care.THANKS FOR LISTENING!Thanks so much for joining our 15th podcast episode!Have some feedback youâd like to share? The Era of Enlightenment - 1074 Words
The Enlightenment was an era of major social and political change in 18th century Europe. The Enlightenment was centered in France, which at the time was a dominant force in Europe ruled by an oppressive government. During this era, many intellectuals began to question some of the norms and customs of European society, such as monarchy and religious discrimination. These intellectuals helped spread new ideas about human rights and democracy, which helped inspire the revolutions that followed. As stated by Immanuel Kant in his essay, What is Enlightenment?, enlightenment is the realization of people to think for themselves. He believed that most people were too afraid and too lazy to use their own judgments, and instead relied on the teachings of their superiors. During the time period surrounding the enlightenment, the overwhelming influence that monarchs and the church upon the citizens of Europe shaped their lives. At the time, people perceived free thinking to be dangerous. Kant believed the lack of freedom given to citizens of European society to be an obstacle to enlightenment. In his essay, Kant states that, ââ¬Å"After the guardians have first made their domestic cattle dumb and have made sure that these placid creatures will not dare take a single step without the harness of the cart to which they are tethered, the guardians then show them the danger which threatens if they try to go aloneâ⬠. Ethic Groups and Discrimination â⬠Scottish-Americans Free Essays
Running head: ETHNIC GROUPS AND DISCRIMINATION ââ¬â SCOTTISH Ethnic Groups and Discrimination ââ¬â Scottish Americans Axia College Ethnic Groups and Discrimination ââ¬â Scottish Americans People from Scotland first came to the new world in the 1600s. There is some evidence of Scots coming to what is now considered America with the Vikings as slaves. This would be one of the first occurrences of mistreatment they endured (Gormley, 2000). We will write a custom essay sample on Ethic Groups and Discrimination ââ¬â Scottish-Americans or any similar topic only for you Order Now Like other ethnic groups who migrated to the United States looking for a better life they were burdened with stereotypes and misconceptions about what kind of people they were. Over the course of their history people of Scottish decent have been a major force in the building of our country. They were instrumental in the creation and establishment of our current way of accounting, not just our country. History In America the Scots were stereotyped by the English, Dutch and Germans who also immigrated to this country. These groups stereotyped the Scots as uncivilized, not orderly and not interested in working hard to improve themselves. They were viewed as excellent fighters and were used in the western frontier as a first line of defense against Indian attacks. It did not take long for the Scots to squash the undeserved images of them by the colonists. Two Scotsmen names are on the Declaration of Independence and have been some of the most influential political figures in the history of America (Akins, 2010). The features and characteristics of the Scots would continue in the following centuries to come. After the revolutionary war period Scots would continue coming to America. Many of these immigrants possessed a higher than average education level when compared to other immigrants of the same period. Scotsmen were merchants, professionals, educators, doctors, and clergy (Landsman, 2006). With the exception of the latter, it can be presumed that this group, the Scots, was probably the faction doing the discrimination and stereo-typing now. It stands to reason because of their social status and place in society they may have looked down on other ethnic groups. Something that has happened throughout history in America and in other supposed civilized societies. At the same time, the Scots who mixed in with the Irish immigrants and were known as Scot-Irish did not always fair as well as those with an education. These persons scattered out across the mountain country of Appalachian Mountains and the western states. They were considered lazy and dirty, similar to those who came over originally. They toiled at menial jobs and lived in squalor in the mining communities. Like other ethnic groups, they were grouped together and were excluded from bettering themselves. This appears to be because of oneââ¬â¢s education level and not as much emphasis on ones ethnic background. Especially since the Scots who had an education and/or profession had little trouble assimilating to American life. While the oneââ¬â¢s without the above credentials had to work harder to be accepted by the ruling groups. One has to wonder since there were people of the group who ââ¬Å"made itâ⬠; it was beneficial to those who needed the help. ââ¬Å"One thing that particularly distinguished Scots and Scots-Irish immigration from that of most ethnic groups was their relatively easy adjustment into American society as white, English-speaking Protestants from the United Kingdomâ⬠(Landsman, 2006, p. 199) This gave them a step-up when it came to assimilation into the new country. This was an advantage that many other ethnic groups did not enjoy or experience. It is probably this and their solid work ethic that allowed them to go has far as they have. Presently, the members of this group are the ones complaining of reverse discrimination and other inequalities. It is interesting how the Scots have came around full-circle in America from the times of the Vikings, when they were enslaved to being pioneers of the country and ending with a type of institutional discrimination placed upon them and other light-skinned individuals for the advancement of the ones they held back. Conclusion I would like to think that I posses the best traits of the Scots; strong work ethic, strong sense of family responsibility and a high regard for education. When that is mixed with a sturdy patriotic belief in ones country it can only be a formula for success. Even the symbol of America, Uncle Sam was based on a Scottish-born businessman from NY (Scot-Amer, n. d. ). References Akins, S. (2010). Scots emigration/immigration to the US. Financial Crisis The Accounting Sphere
Question: Describe about the Financial Crisis for The Accounting Sphere. Answer: Introduction The representation of financial audit has jurisdiction outside the accounting sphere involving the followings apart from the knowledge in accounting: informatics, mathematics, knowledge of financial analysis, knowledge of economics, judicial information, and ethics. The financial audits pluridisciplinarity can be explained in the following way: there must be verification of the financial audit in relation to the financial statements compliance with reality as well as the observation of the rules, principles, and the criteria established for presentation and registration related to the accounting information. In the time of financial crisis, a number of issues cropped up questioning the jurisdiction of the auditors role that were subjected to high level inquiry (Christodoulou, 2011). It is the time that is featured with the financial and economic reform process, the objective of which is implementing and promoting methodologies that are harmonized with good practice. The purpose of this paper is making the audit firms aware of the liabilities that are in place in the time of the financial crisis. The accounting standards are also addressed and changes required are recommended. The report is prepared for Sally Smith to narrate the auditors liabilities with special mention of Lehman Brothers case. Background In the times of financial instability, the logical step can be followed that has been necessary in understanding the crisis concept. The difficulties in the form of social, political, economic etc are manifested featuring testing, disorder, and tension in the society. The economic crisis takes place because of the economic activities difficult conditions, decline or stagnation in the economic activity, or a slowdown portending change. The financial crisis is a sign of economic crisis reflecting financial system that has been involved in mistrust (Clinch et al., 2012). This has been a drop in the stock exchanges transactions, characterized by the market mechanisms disorder. There is need for the financial systems for higher transparency with respect to a number of aspects. Firstly, there have been certain players in the financial market, in the likes of hedge funds having an important role in the mediation. However, this does not have the bindings of strict rules related to the reporting (Blume and Voigt, 2010). Their activities regulation can be established as to the way report would be reducing the volatility in the time of worsening of the market condition. The financial instruments being developed makes it a difficulty in determining price for them. However, the questions are raised at the same time related to the investors bearing the risk. The possibility related to the correct assessment of the risk and identification of the origin bearing the risk can be a helping hand in improving the supervision and the regulation of the financial system. The additional problem lies with the review model with respect to the performance of the investment portfolio and the identification of the ways in preventing risks. ISA 200 talks about the general principles and the objectives that govern the financial statements audit. The objective of the financial statements audit is enabling the auditor in expressing opinion on the extent of the preparation of the financial statement. This is according to the applicable framework of the financial reporting. The conduction of the process of audit should be according to the procedures pertaining to the professional and legal standards (Riksrevisionen, 2010). The report of the auditor is being signed and transported to the shareholders and the owners of the company. The professional can have the responsibility to issue an opinion on the entitys financial statement. In this respect, the auditor is responsible, although it is subject to substantial liability. In the time of performance of audit mission, there is assuming of considerable responsibility by the financial auditors as rendering the professional services nature and the audit engagement (Riksrevisionen, 2010). The initial assumption related to the liability of the auditor has been the audit engagements wordings. During the financial crisis 2010 and 2011, the audit became a high profile political issue. In the US, Brussels, and UK, the worldwide financial crisis has led to the making of series of inquiries that are of high level and related to the audits effectiveness (Larsson, 2011). In other countries, such as Singapore, regulators engage actively with stakeholders in accessing the way of enhancement of the audit. The Green Paper on audit that belongs to the European Commission was subject to debate in Brussels in 2011. This ultimately led to the legislation in relation to the auditing profession of Europe (Larsson, 2011). The Financial Services Commissioner of EC, Michel Barnier, at a high level summit gave a warning in Brussels that status quo cannot be maintained. The House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee in UK conducted an inquiry, which is highly critical in nature and into audit competition (Jackson, 2009). The Office of Fair Trading requires the complexity of the issues to be under examination by a body that is better resourced compared to the Parliamentary committee. The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board in United States examined the needs in relation to the changes of the auditor reporting model that was pursued with the consultation of various stakeholders (Jackson, 2009). The senate of United States has taken hearing where the standard setters and the regulators have been asked to provide evidence related to the accountancy professions role to prevent another financial crisis. The dominance of the Big Four in the audit market in Lords enquirys directly focus and one of the EC Green Papers key issues. This oligarchy pose a systematic risk and fear related to the turning into three drove of the four and its consequences that both enquiries sought answering. It is hard to find the solution. The FRC (Financial Reporting Council) in the register of the UK City have set out for the audit firms, companies, and investors, a Market Participants Group. FRS in June 2010, in the Progress Report made admission that till date the evidences are limited that there is major impact with recommendations on the market concentration and the arising of the risk from that concentration (Vandervelde et al., 2009). In fact, there was admission from the FRC that there was increase in the concentration. There is agreement of ACCA regarding the fact that greater market competition could be beneficial. In the banking sector, the institutions exist that are so big that they hardly can fail. This is seizing to be a healthy sign. There is no reason to believe that it is appropriate with regards to this kind of regulatory action. Neither it is appropriate that in the market; there would be artificial intelligence, such as to put caps on audits in terms of numbers that is allowable to any firm to be carrying out (Dijkman, 2010). The companies are possessed with the rights of appointing any firm of their choice and this kind of regulatory intervention that tries in bucking the market is not supportable. There is lack of involvement and apathy among the shareholders in the companies owned by them, which points towards the long term answer that must persuade them with the outlook that the serving of their best interests is through the audit marketplace which is healthy and competitive, and not an oligarchy (Gorton and Souleles, 2005). Albeit, the global companies that are the largest, requires inevitably the large global firms services, the shareholders and the directors of other listed companies must be considering whether or not servicing of the other audit firms can be as effective. Discussion In case of liabilities, auditors have a duty of care towards their audited entities. This has the involvement related to the lawful responsibility in carrying out the work with competence and skills, which the end users and society is liable to be expecting (Elder et al., 2009). Where, there is existence of duty, and work is seized to be carried out with respect to the required standard, such as end users are equipped with right of taking legal action against the auditors in seeking compensation with regards to the loss caused by their negligence. This exposure with regards to the liability is generally considered as something good. This is because the concentration of it is directed at the advisers mind driving customer care and quality. If there is no motivation of the advisers with respect to the retribution prospect for work of poor quality, and there is a threat that there would be failing by them in exercising the right level of care and skills. This is the reason that it is not advocated to free auditors from liability related to the sub standard work and mistakes (Elder et al., 2009). However, the example of Andersen is a thought over that collapsed in the scenario of post Enron scandal because of the ruining of its name. This indicates the equality in financial risk and reputational risk that acts as an incentive in giving the advice in best possible manner. There are reasons to believe that in certain cases, the rules pertaining to the liability of the auditors are seemingly unreasonable leading to consequences that are undesirable. The reference here is based on the several and joint liability existing in UK and several jurisdictions based on common law across the world. In this system, the party owing the duty of care and claiming to have the sufferance of loss is allowed in suing any or all parties that are responsible for creating that loss. The point that is important here is that when there is consideration that one of the parties is in a better position making it probable that it will be in a position in paying the claimed damages, while the plaintiff can have the choice of suing that party only with a let off of the others (Blommestein, 2009). There is need for the auditors of having indemnity insurance of professional nature that is considered to be the best targets, which is known as deep-pocket syndrome. The state of affairs like this can lead to a couple of results. Firstly, if there are constraints for the auditors in terms of the threats emanating from getting sued, they will be unwilling of getting involved in works that features innovation producing benefits to the stakeholders. In fact, the profession of auditing is being regularly accused that it very conservative. The couching reports are in legalistic and defensive terms as there is concern of avoiding litigation. In this point of time, when regulatory bodies and the stakeholders are looking increasingly for auditors in providing assurances on newly formed areas, such as the effectiveness of risk management in companies, the auditors are needed to be willingly expanding the work scope that cannot happen without the litigation threat be removed, which can destroy them (Huber et al., 2009). Secondly, with the direct relevance to the competition issue, the threat of suing can be a disincentive to the firms of smaller size getti ng involved with larger companies audit. Even, the firms having resources, experience and skills to be taking on the audit of larger companies, it may be compelled to be refraining from such a commitment if the associated risks with regards to the audit failure is enough of wiping out the company. The role of the audit firm (one of the big 4s), Ernst Young in the collapse of Lehman Brothers cannot be undermined. It is being argued that Ernst Young had the prior knowledge regarding the Lehman Brothers transaction of Repo 105. The Ernst Young had an agreement of paying $10 million to the New York state for settling the lawsuit, where they have overlooked the Lehman Brothers accounting gimmick. Lehman Brothers was accused of hiding billions in bad deals. Lehman Brothers, in 2001, considered a scheme called Repo 105 where they attempted in selling bad debts temporarily. This was under the condition that Lehman Brothers would be purchasing them beck within 10 days. The premium of 5 percent was paid for this service and not the usual 2 percent. In the balance sheet, the worst deals was excluded that made it look like the bank being financially healthy than what it was in reality (Singh. and Aitken, 2009). The Repo 105 was purchased by the corporations such as, UBS of Switzerland, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Mizuho Bank, KBC Bank of Belgium, and Barclays. However, there had been no law firm in US that recognized this novel technique as true sales. Ernst Young entered the picture at this time as they were contacted by Lehman Brothers for auditing their bank books. The Ernst Young, between 2001 and 2008was paid by Lehman Brothers to the tune of $150 million for certifying the financial statement of the bank as being accurate and true. The bank, however, collapsed in September 2008 that triggered the economic crisis globally. The state attorney general of New York, in 2010, sued Ernst Young because of its failure for reporting the scheme. The Ernst Young, in October 2013, agreed in paying $99 million for settling the lawsuit that the investors of Lehman Brothers brought about (Desmond, 2008). The practice of collection of the third party evidence has been a normal practice. However, there is greater emphasis of the evidence whose origin is from outside, being regarded as stronger compared to the evidence that originates internally. The judge in the Pacific Acceptance case was of the view that if the certificates were not to be ascertained physically by the auditors, there should be ascertainment as the third party systems reliability (Johnson, 2000, pp.62-72). In addition, there should be obtainment of corroborative evidences by the auditors. For example, if a company has invested in another company, the dividends that there may be can be checked with the inspection of cash book entry and dividend warranty. The classic case of Kingston Cotton Mills Ltd (1896) had the judgment that it is the auditors duty in probing into the depth only when there arousing of a suspicion. The statutory auditor brought the weakness to the managing directors notice that alerted the management, which is held judicially to be one responsible primarily for the protection of the company assets. This can be put up as defense against any subsequent claim for the information to be passed on to the management (Aspen, 1981). Recommendations There have been some recommendations in this paper with an intention of allowing the audit market for working more efficiently and, in long and medium term, increasing the choice of audit. The inclusive recommendations are: (a) reduction in the directors perceived risk, which have chosen the auditor that is non-Big four; (b) measures of the demand side to be making the boards with more accountability for the shareholders; and (c) the measures of the supply side having intention of encouraging the non-Big Four offering the services of the audit to the entities of the large public interest. The recommendations that could be forwarded in 2008 to the member states that provide encouragement to all of them to be limiting the audit work liability. However, no evidence have been found that there can be any effect detrimental to the audit work quality, be it statutory cap or means other than that. Conclusion The massive scale of financial crisis pervading the globe and in the several countries and the bailouts of banks with the taxpayers money makes it right that the accountants and the auditors role must be questioned. In spite of the inquiries taking place, there has been no argument with regards to the necessity of the audit. The audit firms that are biggest in the business are best placed for innovation in meeting the needs of the market and a willingness of taking on a superior role, especially if the issue of the corresponding liability is addressed. This profession is often attributed with a defensive mindset with a replacement of pre-crisis mindset by an acceptance that there is desirability and necessity for change. The Lehman Brothers case demonstrates that there is considerable liability on the part of auditors towards the third. The auditors can be sued on this ground and force them to return the benefits they received from their clients having obligations to the third parties. References Aspen, C., 1981.
